# Use cases

> Explore identity-based Agent Gating and Agentic Commerce for agents acting on behalf of users.

When an agent acts for a user, the receiving service needs to understand the relationship and the evidence behind the request. AIR's identity flow supports two starting points.

## Agent Gating

Use an authenticated agent-user relationship and accepted credentials to decide which requests can access your service. Apply your own access rules, quotas, and abuse controls to reduce anonymous misuse and protect member-only or limited benefits.

Read [Agent Gating](/products/agents/agent-gating) for the checks and an example.

## Agentic Commerce

Let an agent carry user-approved membership or eligibility into a merchant interaction. The merchant checks the evidence and applies the relevant price, discount, or entitlement.

### Membership pricing

An accepted loyalty credential can qualify a customer for a member benefit through their agent. The identity check establishes eligibility; ordering and payment require their own authority.

Read [Agentic Commerce](/products/agents/offers-for-agents) for member discounts, travel benefits, and relevant offers.

## Choose your next step

Identify the agent, its operator, the consenting user, and the receiving service in [Plan your integration](/products/agents/integration-options). Then follow the two stages in [Using Agentic Identity](/products/agents/partner-agent-api): delegation and verification.
